Located next to St. Peter's Basilica, the Campo Santo Teutonico is the retreat of the Roman Institute of the Görres Society (RIGG), the well-known academic centre for research into the history of the Church and Christian cultural heritage.
The conference "Popes and Paraments from Julius II to Benedict XVI - Textiles, Texts and Contexts from Six Centuries" will take place at Campo Santo Teutonico from 26 to 29 November 2025. The conference is being organised by Prof. Dr. Dr. Jörg Bölling (Hildesheim) in collaboration with Stefan Heid.
Dr Marco Aimone and Stefan Heid are holding a 10-hour special course on early medieval chalices, patens and other vessels and their use in Roman liturgy. The course will take place on 15–16 December and 13 January at the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology..
Dr Konstantin M. Brandenburg (born 1964) studied architecture at the University of Rome, where he obtained his doctorate. This was followed by various research projects on the early Christian and late antique churches of Rome: S. Stefano Rotondo, S. Paolo fuori le Mura, S. Pietro in Vaticano, S. Agnese flm, S. Costanza, S. Maria Maggiore and S. Lorenzo flm.

From 26 to 30 January 2026, the fourth edition of the archive course organised by the Istituto Sangalli per la storia e le culture religiose (Florence) will take place in important ecclesiastical archives in Rome.
Franz-Xaver Brandmayr (Vienna), former rector of the Pontifical College of the Anima, presented a lavish illustrated book on the occasion of the patron saint's day of the Confraternity of the Anima, which he designed together with Hans Haider and Stephan Kölliker.
Next March, Stefan Heid will publish a 1,100-page account of the history of the Roman Institute of the Görres Society from its beginnings in the 1880s to the end of the Second World War with Herder Verlag.
Paul Badde, a member of the Roman Institute of the Görres Society since 2012, passed away on Monday, 10 November, in the Abruzzo village of Manoppello, where he had recently moved from Rome.
On 29–30 January 2026, the Department of Biblical Studies and Historical Theology at the University of Innsbruck, the Austrian Historical Institute in Rome and the RIGG are hosting a symposium on linguistic diversity in the late Habsburg Empire. Church institutions such as seminaries, parishes and religious orders play a special role in the question of national and practical implications. The main organiser is PD Dr Tamara Scheer (Vienna).
Marco Aimone (London) and Stefan (Heid) are offering a 10-hour course on the development, preservation and use of liturgical objects in the early and medieval Church at the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology in December/January.
The Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology offers an introductory course in Christian archaeology, which, on the occasion of the Holy Year, once again deals with the theme of pilgrimage. The course is not only aimed at students, but at anyone who is interested.

On 21 November, the Fondazione Vaticana Joseph Ratzinger/Benedetto XVI, in collaboration with the RIGG, will present the autobiographical volume of Ratzinger's collected works and another Ratzinger biography at the Campo Santo Teutonico.

The German Archaeological Institute is excavating in Ostia Antica. The very extensive ancient city area now lies beneath a meadow. Only the bishop's complex on the outskirts of the city is being excavated. Only this complex is worth excavating because the ancient city was abandoned and plundered, so that most traces have been lost.
