Located next to St. Peter's Basilica, the Campo Santo Teutonico is the retreat of the Roman Institute of the Görres Society (RIGG), the well-known academic centre for research into the history of the Church and Christian cultural heritage.
The first member of the German priesthood at Campo Santo Teutonico since its foundation 150 years ago (1876) was Theodor Peters, who turned out to be a previously unknown saint (commemoration day: 24 April).

Progress is being made in Rome. Among other things, with the new Metro Line C. At the turn of the year, for example, the new ‘Colosseo / Fori Imperiali (Metro C)’ station was opened.
The Roman Institute of the Görres Society continues to grow. Last year, the number of members rose from 267 to 277, 212 of them men and 65 women. Although 25 new members were recruited, the growth rate remained lower due to departures, resignations and deaths.
Since the Holy Year 2025, a beautiful leaflet has been circulating for Irish pilgrims, showing them the way to places of Irish remembrance, such as the Basilica of St. Clement near the Colosseum, which has been cared for by Irish Dominicans for centuries.
The Vatican Philatelic Office and the Luxembourg Philatelic Office have issued two almost identical stamps depicting Johann Peter Kirsch (1861-1941) in front of the building of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology.
The latest newsletter from the Görres Society focuses primarily on the Society's big anniversary, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary: 1876-2026!

The new online platform Communio (Herder Publishing House) regularly publishes articles related to Rome (category ‘City of Wonders’), most recently an article by Stefan Heid entitled ‘Farewell to the Pope King: Pius XI, the Feast of Christ the King and Christian Archaeology’.

My name is Fr. Ezio Giovanni Maria Russo OP (born Ezio Antonino). I was born on 3 February 1976 in Gela. I attended the Vincenzo Linares Classical High School in Licata, after which I enrolled in the Degree Course in Conservation of Archaeological Cultural Heritage in Agrigento, a branch of the University of Palermo, then located in Villa Genuardi, a jewel of Girgenti (Agrigento), with a magnificent monumental garden overlooking the Valley of the Temples, now owned by the FAI and home to the Superintendence for Cultural Heritage.
On the morning of 11 December, Pope Leo XIV received the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology in the Sala Clementina of the Apostolic Palace and emphasised the importance of Christian archaeology in his short address.
On 21 November, the Fondazione Vaticana Joseph Ratzinger/Benedetto XVI, in collaboration with the RIGG, will present the autobiographical volume of Ratzinger's collected works and another Ratzinger biography at the Campo Santo Teutonico.

A major conference on the history of housing foundations entitled ‘Foundations as role models: the Fuggerei in context’ is taking place at the Augsburg City Archives. The range of lectures covers topics from the Fugger foundations in Augsburg to similar phenomena of poor relief and social welfare in Europe.
