Dr Gabriel Steinschulte (Cologne), who worked for many years in Rome at the Osservatore Romano and at the Pontifical Institute for Sacred Music and until last year was conductor of the Schola Cantorum Coloniensis, will speak on the topic: ‘The commitment of the Council prelate Johannes Overath (1913-2002) to Musica Sacra and the Campo Santo Teutonico’.

Prelate Overath from Cologne was the initiator of numerous initiatives for church music before, during and after the Second Vatican Council. He maintained close relations with the Campo Santo Teutonico and organised its new organ, which was inaugurated in 1975. From 1981 to 1988, Overath was President of the Pontifical Institute for Sacred Music in Rome.
