As is well known, it is not only the Görres Society that is celebrating its 250th anniversary this year (that of its namesake). The United States of America is also looking back on 1776, the year in which independence from the British mother country was declared.
On 12 December 2025, our member prof. Hubert Houben (Lecce) was awarded the Premio Augustale d'Oro di Federico II di Svevia in Torremaggiore (province of Foggia) for his services to research and dissemination of information about the Staufer Emperor Frederick II. Congratulations!
The 128th General Assembly of the Görres Society in its 150th year of existence will take place from 25 to 27 September in Koblenz, the founding place of the society, and will feature special highlights, including a boat trip on the Rhine/Moselle. Registration is highly recommended. Only those who register online will find their names in the printed participant booklet.
The "Schülerkreis" meeting is by no means a closed circle, but also offers interesting programme items for non-members, this time as part of a ceremony in honour of its patron, Cardinal Kurt Koch.
From 14 March to 14 June, the National Museum of Perugia is hosting a spectacular exhibition on Giotto and St. Francis of Assisi, conceived by Veruska Picchiarelli and Emanuele Zappasodi. The Campo Santo Teutonico is also represented with an exhibit.

The third series of lectures on selected treasures from the Ambrosian Library in Milan begins on 24 February.
On 11 February, Rodney Aist, course director at St George's College, the Anglican pilgrim centre in Jerusalem, will speak at the Jerusalem Institute of the Görres Society at 8.15 p.m. about pilgrims to Jerusalem before the Crusades(his book).
From 27 February to 4 October, the New Palace in Ingolstadt will host a special exhibition conceived by Priscilla Pfannmüller on Elector Maximilian II Emanuel of Bavaria. Britta Kägler (Passau) will give the opening lecture on 26 February on the topic of ‘Max Emanuel and his wives’.
