New rector of the Campo Santo Teutonico: Peter Klasvogt
Since Sunday 15 June, the new rector of Campo Santo Teutonico has been the Paderborn priest Dr Peter Klasvogt. After a long phase of changing administrators since the departure of Rector Konrad Bestle, there is now once again a prospect of stability in the important phase of renewing the complex.
The Görres Society and its Roman Institute see the best conditions for a fruitful collaboration, if only because Prelate Klasvogt was head of the Academy and Institute in Schwerte and Dortmund for many years and is therefore very familiar with the academic field. He himself has made a name for himself as a publisher, including Herder-Verlag, and can therefore easily join the co-editorship of the Römische Quartalschrift in his function as Rector of the Priests' College. Moreover, Italy is familiar territory for Klasvogt; he speaks Italian.
Although the Archdiocese of Paderborn has always been one of the strongest supporters of the Priests' College at Campo Santo Teutonico since its foundation in 1876 and has sent countless young priests there, this is the first time that a Paderborn priest and prelate has also been Rector of the Archconfraternity and the Pontifical Priests' College.
