This commemorative volume is being published to mark the 75th birthday of the passionate ecumenist Cardinal Kurt Koch on 15 March 2025. Theologians of distinction are publishing their contributions here, which they gave at an international academic symposium in honour of the cardinal in Rome. The jubilarian's plea to ‘keep the question of unity alive today with amiable tenacity’ inspired the various thematic approaches to the mystery of the Church, its unity and uniqueness. The spectrum ranges from fundamental systematic explanations through to expositions from the fields of paternal theology and baptismal catechesis, liturgy and hymnology as well as ecumenism. Concluding ‘Ecclesiological Perspectives’ from the pen of Cardinal Koch invite the reader to open himself to the breadth and beauty of a ‘theological ecclesiology’.
