This conference volume takes a new look at the painter Raphael, who died in 1520, in order to appreciate him as a painter of love. His main work, the Transfiguration of Christ, is interpreted in more detail alongside his mythological and pagan pictorial themes. Raphael's credo and his art of heavenly and earthly love are scientifically explored from different perspectives.
