The remains of ancient buildings dating from the 8th century BC to the 2nd century AD came to light in 2014 during renovation work in a residential complex on the Aventine. The Roman domus, which was inhabited from the 1st century BC to the 2nd century AD and remodelled several times, impresses above all with its detailed mosaics and wall paintings. Then as now, it was not the poorest of Romans who lived here.

The small installation does not show the structures ‘in situ’, but packs them as a whole into a box, which is slightly shifted to make room for the supports of the modern building. Video projections and the well-known and popular voice of Piero Angela make the visit an immersive experience.

Guided tours in small groups take place every hour on Saturdays from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm. The meeting point is in front of the modern building (Piazza Albani 35).
