Mons. Dr. Federico Gallo is Ordinary Doctor of the Ambrosian Library and Ordinary Canon of Milan Cathedral. He holds a degree in Classical Literature (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan), a degree in Palaeography and Archivism and a degree in Greek Palaeography (Vatican Secret Archives). He is a Doctor of Letters (PhD) (Pázmány Péter Katolikus Egyetem, Budapest).

At the Ambrosian Library he is Library Director, Director of the Class of Greek and Latin Studies of the Ambrosian Academy, Director of the Ambrosiana Graecolatina series, delegate of the College of Doctors for relations with schools and universities, Chancellor of the College of Doctors.
Research and publications mainly concern the manuscript holdings of the Ambrosiana Library. He organises Dies Academici, conferences, exhibitions, seminars, lecture series; he has designed and led the Ambrosiana's new Digital Library; he is contact person for the Ambrosian Medagliere.
He is Secretary of the Association of Italian Ecclesiastical Librarians (ABEI), Editor in Chief of the ABEI Bulletin, member of the Association of Ecclesiastical Archivists (AAE), member of the Editorial Committee and of the Scientific Committee of the Yearbook of the State Archives of Milan, member of the Presidential Council of the Italian Association of Professors of Church History (AIPSC), Councillor of the Executive Committee of the "Pio XI International Centre for Studies and Documentation".
Invited as a speaker at conventions and conferences, he holds courses, seminars and lectures. He teaches Palaeography at the School of Archivistics, Palaeography and Diplomatics of the State Archives of Milan and runs the laboratory Officina Codicologica at the University of Milan. He speaks German and English and reads French.
