Josef Brauchle: two books on Father Jordan
Salvatorian Father and General Archivist Josef Brauchle has donated two books about the founder of the order, Johann Baptist Jordan, to the library of Campo Santo Teutonico, which he published in 2021 and 2024.
Father Jordan, born in Gurtweil, Baden, in 1848, is the founder of the globally active Salvatorian Order, which is closely connected to the Campo Santo Teutonico. As a young man, Father Jordan spent several months there in 1878. The book ‘Johann Baptist Jordan. His Career from Birth (1848) to Further Studies in Rome (1878/79)’ deals with this stay at the German seminary, which had been founded only a few years earlier, on pages 225 to 234:
- Arrival at the Campo Santo Teutonico
- The Campo Santo Teutonico and Rector Anton de Waal
- The residents of the seminary
- The curriculum of John Baptist Jordan
- Admission to the Archconfraternity
- Participation in the Sabbatines
The second volume deals with "Die Entstehung der Apostolischen Lehrgesellschaft 180-1881 unter dem seligen Fraziskus Jordan".
