25-27 January in Koblenz: Ceremony and conference marking the 250th anniversary of Joseph Görres' birth

On 25 January, a ceremony in honour of Joseph Görres (1776-1948) will take place at the historic Görres House in Koblenz.

Of particular importance is the conference on the young Görres organised by Dr Sabine Gruber and Prof. Georg Braungart at the State Library Centre on 26/27 January.

The title of the conference is ‘Literature, Rhetoric, Aesthetics: The Early Joseph Görres up to his Heidelberg Period’.

The topics to be discussed are

  • The early Görres as a political author, activist and publicist
  • New perspectives on Görres the Romantic
  • New aspects of Görres' humanities and natural science texts
